The Generation that will Save Ebonyi

In Ebonyi, democracy is degenerating into aristocracy… Leaders are not trusted to behave responsibly when they are not challenged. The PDP in Ebonyi has no rivals. But all hope is not lost. A new generation of Ebonyians are emerging, a generation fed up with dysfunction, abysmal failure, rampant imposition and party dictatorship…Young, university educated, agile and tech savvy, they will push aside the sclerotic party hippopotamuses that have cobwebs already dangling from their ears. They will drain the ponds of the ‘hippos’ and take back Ebonyi, one community at a time…This is not going to be a quick fix…but an inscription on ‘keke tricycle’ in Abakaliki capital territory sums it up: ‘No Condition is Permanent’. He Who Laughs Last Laughs Best

Imagine that a friend said to you, “I’ve been driving for years, and I have never had a wreck, so I’m going to stop using my seat belt.” What would you say to convince him of danger he’s courting? How would you persuade him that the other driver might be at fault, or there might be a mechanical failure, or the weather might cause a crash? The point is: long term victory can lead to overconfidence and a lack of imagination. This is the illusion of the People’s Democratic Party-led government in Ebonyi State after 14 years of uninterrupted democratic success. October 20, 2013

PDP !!! There is Fire on the Mountain

This is a good time for other parties to overthrow PDP and end its 14-year old dominance…As Jonathan’s backing for Bamanga Tukur remains ever defiant, sealing the secretariat of the New PDP, the fire on the PDP’s mountain may burn its logo…PDP has got to live with the crack in its house. PDP!!! There is fire on the mountain. Run! Run!! Run!!! September 22, 2013

The Man Tipped to Succeed Elechi

Common men do not care if the governor comes from Ebonyi North, Central or South. What use is an Afikpo Governor, Izzi, Ezza or Ohaozara governor who can’t turn our lives around for good? In 2015, Ebonyi should be in search of good governor, no more no less. Feb 16, 2014

Our Men at Abuja

If there is anything we have reaped from our men at Abuja, it is creating faceless oppositions that disintegrate as soon as elections are over. September 8, 2013

See Izzi Unuphu and Weep

We can no longer deny our duty to the demolished communities. Justice is the only way Agbaja and Inyimegu Unuphu can be healed and suppurating sore of hatred lanced, so that the tiny traumatized communities can be properly compensated, reconstructed, and relocated if needs be. Justice means supporting Agbaja and Inyimegu Unuphu people in their overwhelming grief. Trying to circuit this process by concentrating on politically-motivated short-term humanitarianism and arguments is to fulfill the worst fears. Humanitarianism invites us to relocate the victims of our mistake or face such fate in our political career. Jan 27, 2013

Before Ebonyi Comes to a Standstill

Time is not just running out but running fast against this administration. People still wait patiently to see the administration connect its dots before Ebonyi bounces back to a standstill. July 28, 2013

Ebonyi is Working

Ebonyi is a collective project. No person or section is so powerful to hold collective destiny to ransom. May 5, 2013

Angry Peoples Congress

Every family should pray to have one mad man. A mad man is both a blessing and a curse to his family. A family without a hard-headed person will have her other members oppressed by people living in the neighborhood. A mad man gives his family strong protection. His presence annuls in advance threat of possible enemies. However, a family stands at risks if she ever annoys her mad member. A family with such people always involves them in serious decision otherwise they can unsettle the apple cart. National liberation, national renaissance, the restoration of nationhood, to the people, commonwealth: whatever may be the headings used or the new formulas introduced, liberation is always a violent phenomenon. Tower of Babel

At times, when we see what people in power propose as developmental projects in the face of decayed structures crying for attention, massive hunger, inflaming public anger, we are reassured in our conviction that our leaders do not know the people they lead. Power can isolate and absolute power isolates absolutely. The way we make our choices confirms our belief that power makes one lose contact with the people. May 18, 2014

The Truth Elechi Does Not Know

Chinese would say ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer’…Gov Elechi is not hated nor loved the way he is made to believe at times. All that glitters is not gold and mud sometimes harbors diamond. Not all those in the kitchen cabinet of Elechi’s administration are saints as not all critics of this administration are devils. Some of those who have been painted as enemies of this administration may not hate it after all. And those whom the administration has been made to love may not mean well for Ebonyi… In this way, Ebonyi is being deprived of valuable words of wisdom from all citizens. August 10, 2014

The Ebonyi of Our Dream

Bravery will come when any Ebonyian wanting to occupy political position comes out to test his popularity in the field and not engaging in covert deals to short-circuit electoral ethics. The Ebonyi of our dream will be a paradise where leaders are chosen by the people and not selected by godfathers. It will be a paradise where family ties will not play any role in choosing who guide collective destiny. November 10, 2013

Never Take Your Followers For Granted

There are multiple bring-home lessons from Egyptian revolutions. Leaders…should not underrate the power of their followers. There comes a time in people’s lives where bottled up anger are let out to wreck havoc. …At various times, government has besides labeling striking workers as enemies of the party, threatened them with ‘no-work-no-pay’ policy. In majority of the cases, these threats have been followed forcing hunger on the people till they succumbed to government’s stand. Forcing people to relinquish their rights and privileges simply because one has the arsenal to do it is inviting mass anger in the near future. There comes a time when people no longer contain oppression. July 21, 2013

Battle For The Soul Of Ebonyi

History begins with grievances, disappointment and humiliation. One wins, another loses…But the bad have moved political history more than the good… For John Stuart Mill, the dictum that truth and goodness always triumphs is one of the pleasant falsehoods which men repeat after one another till they pass into commonplace, but which experience refutes. History teems with instances of truth and goodness put down by forces of the bad…The most obvious lesson to be learnt comparing evil politicians in history is that they show us how very little we have learnt from our mistakes. The ability of people to ‘see no evil, hear no evil’ was just as prevalent during Saddam Hussein’s reign of terror as it had been in Hitler’s. Both were giving a large section of the population exactly what they wanted and, in exchange for this, some of the people chose to ignore the cruelties perpetrated on their fellow citizens while others were terrorized into silence. Competence Has No religion, No Region

It makes no sense. Let the governors or deputy be animist or atheist children of the same nomadic parents. All I care is let them just be human beings and not like some of the beasts we have over the years unleashed on ourselves in this state all in the name of politics of sentiments. We must never use parochial interest to blur our vision of the real- hunger, poverty…

Incompetence has no region… Performance comes from the heart not from a senatorial zone or denomination. November 9, 2014

Football Lessons in the Boss Politics

Life has entries and exits… A good politician bows out after a good job retiring position of respectable consultancy. He does not switch posts because politics obeys the law of diminishing returns. Those who want to call the shot to the grave soon realize that reputation is like a football; no matter how neat, once it is rolling on the ground, anybody can kick on it. November 2, 2014

No Longer at Ease

Overconfidence! Presumption! Exaggerated self-worth! Ebonyi will never find any respect until we put those attitudes behind and learn to take everybody along. The political intrigues of 21st century Nigeria is so complicated and interest-saturated to be left in the hands of selected few. That is why the state is no longer at ease. November 23, 2013
